From March 29th to March 31st, 2024, the Hilton Kuala Lumpur's Grand Ballroom was abuzz with excitement as numismatists, collectors, and card game enthusiasts converged for the eagerly anticipated 12th Kuala Lumpur International Numismatic Fair (KLINF). The event, a staple in the numismatic community, promised three days of exploration, camaraderie, and discovery.
The morning of the first day saw an unprecedented turnout as exhibitors queued eagerly from 8:30 am onwards, ready to set up their bourse tables. The excitement was palpable, with organizers caught off guard by the sheer number of participants, prompting them to call for additional assistance to assist the bustling crowd. Simultaneously, another group gathered at the back of the foyer, eagerly registering for the inaugural card game tournament, KLINF X BOOM Card Game Tournament, featuring the popular Weiss Schwarz game.
As the clock struck 10:00 am, signaling the official opening of the fair to the public, attendees flooded through the doors, greeted by a surprisingly large crowd for a Friday morning. Amongst the sea of faces were familiar friends, dealers, and collectors, reuniting for another year of numismatic exploration. The exhibitor lineup boasted a diverse array of numismatic, philatelic and watch dealers, auction houses, grading companies, and restoration company, offering something for every collector's interest.
One of the most notable expansions to this year's fair was the inclusion of card collectibles, spearheaded by Boom Cards & Comics, alongside co-sponsors Bushiroad and Grand Archive. Throughout the event, visitors were treated to card game tutorials and immersive experiences, introducing them to the world of card gaming in a fun and engaging manner.
Expert presence further enriched the fair, with luminaries such as Mr. Chad Greenbach, Vice President of PMG Grading, and Mr. Vincent Lee, Assistant Business Development Manager of PCGS Asia, offering free evaluations and insights to attendees. Mr. Greenbach's paper money evaluations garnered significant attention, with collectors queuing for the opportunity to have their treasures assessed by an industry expert.
In the evening of the first day, exhibitors were invited to unwind at a cocktail dinner party reception held in the foyer of the grand ballroom. This provided a welcome opportunity for attendees to relax, mingle, and exchange stories amidst the vibrant atmosphere.
The following days were filled with excitement as card game tournaments took center stage. The second day featured a One Piece card game tournament, with the participation of renowned World Champion Guan Rong, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event. On the third and final day, the fair concluded with a Pokemon card game tournament, bringing the weekend to a thrilling close.
As the clock struck 6:00 pm on Sunday, signaling the end of the fair, attendees departed with fond memories, new acquisitions, and a renewed sense of camaraderie. Organizers were delighted to receive positive feedback from exhibitors, reaffirming the success of the event and leaving everyone with a sense of accomplishment.
The 12th Kuala Lumpur International Numismatic Fair Show was truly a testament to the passion, dedication, and sense of community within the numismatic, collectibles and card gaming communities.
